These small English stoneware jars were once used by dairies and grocers for storing and selling cream. Their sturdy construction and warm brown glaze made them durable enough for everyday use in kitchens and shops throughout the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Each jar shows the small marks and wear that come from decades of use, giving it a character that new pieces simply can’t replicate.

The base of each is stamped “GG,” a mark associated with English pottery maker George Gathercole of Staffordshire. They are salt-glazed, solid heavy pottery. Being sold as a pair.

Please note one jar has a small chip, as shown in the photos, and one jar has a rough pottery mark, also shown in the photos.

Dating is circa 1890-1910, sourced in England. Each jar is approximately 3.5" tall.
