This antique oak storage box has the kind of honest wear that only comes from years of practical use. The exterior shows a beautifully worn patina, with layers of age and handling that give the wood its rich character and depth.
The box features two swinging hook brass clasp closures and opens to reveal a simple interior fitted with a removable wooden tray, allowing for organized storage of smaller items while leaving space beneath for larger pieces. Boxes like this were often used for tools, fishing tackle, sewing supplies, or household storage during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Use it today as a functional piece of storage for tv remotes or stationary. Or try styling open on a shelf with pretty antique books.
Measures 12.5" wide, 7.5" tall, and 6.5" deep. Please note there is a bit of pencil and crayon writing on the inside, and a bit of warping on the top right lid.
c 1920. Sourced in England
