An elegant late Victorian music folio of The Swan and the Skylark, a cantata composed by Arthur Goring Thomas and published by Boosey & Co., London & New York in 1894.
Issued shortly after the composer's death, this posthumous work combines music by Arthur Goring Thomas with texts by celebrated English poets Felicia Hemans, John Keats, and Percy Bysshe Shelley. The volume is dedicated to the renowned mezzo-soprano Pauline Viardot-Garcia, one of the most influential musicians of the nineteenth century.
This copy shows expected age-related wear, including light surface marks to the front cover and minor signs of use consistent with its age. The work contains fewer pages than many of the larger oratorio folios, as it was published as a shorter cantata.
Measures 10.5" by 7", 90 pages total. Sourced in England.
