An exceptional antique German bread board, deeply carved in Gothic script with the words “Gib uns heute unser täglich Brot,”  which translates to “Give us this day our daily bread.” An elaborate hand-carved floral border fills the lower half of the board, with flowers, leaves and scrolling stems surrounding the richly worn center.

This board has a slight age-related warp along with deep knife cuts, consistent with its long history of use. The rich, warm patina is a standout among this collection.

Approximately 12" in diameter.

Sourced in England. Circa 1880–1910.
