Antique French 1915 “French Musicians of Today” by Octave Séré

A beautiful antique French volume titled Musiciens français d’Aujourd’hui (“French Musicians of Today”) by Octave Séré.

Published in Paris in 1915, this fourth edition contains biographical studies of prominent French composers of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including Georges Bizet, Claude Debussy, Gabriel Fauré, Camille Saint-Saëns, Jules Massenet, Paul Dukas, Vincent d’Indy, and many others.

This book is slightly smaller than the others but does still feature its own unique cloth binding and beautiful marbled endpapers. These unique covers are part of the decorative appeal of these early French volumes.

This example has one of the boldest bindings in the group, with a large floral pattern in turquoise blue, dusty rose, black, tan, and cream. The spine has faded somewhat from age and sun exposure, but the front and back covers retain strong color. Otherwise, the book is in good antique condition with expected toning to the pages. Roughly 410 pages total.
