A decorative antique English Codd bottle dating to around the turn of the 20th century. Made from pale aqua glass, the bottle features embossed lettering and a trade mark to the front, along with its original glass marble still held inside the distinctive Codd-style neck. The front reads, "Laycock's" and "Chester," with a stylized male lion trademark
Invented in the Victorian era for carbonated mineral water and soft drinks, Codd bottles were designed so the pressure inside the bottle forced the marble against a seal at the neck.
Measures 7.5" tall and is in good antique condition.
Sourced in England, circa 1910
