A handsome Victorian music folio of Arthur Sullivan's The Prodigal Son, the composer's first large-scale sacred oratorio, originally premiered at the Worcester Musical Festival in 1869.

Bound in rich crimson cloth with an elaborate gilt Art Nouveau-inspired title design, this substantial folio was intended for use by singers and accompanists, containing the complete vocal score with piano accompaniment.

The interior retains its original title pages and beautifully printed musical notation. There is expected age-related wear, including a split to the front interior hinge that remains secure and consistent with a well-used Victorian music volume.

Other minor issues are wear to the cover, a few small stains on the back side, light foxing, and a pencil written inscription on the title page.

Measures 11" by 7". 109 pages total. Sourced in England
