A vintage English pastoral painting depicting a small herd of cattle resting and grazing beside the water beneath an open sky.

Signed J.W. Smith in the lower right corner and dated 1941 the painting has a wonderfully traditional English country feel, with warm earthy colors, mature trees, and beautifully painted cattle throughout the foreground.

The artwork is housed in a substantial gold-tone frame with dark antiqued detailing. The frame appears to be a later addition and is likely made from a wood-composite material, but complements the painting beautifully.

The painting is in good vintage condition with age-related surface wear consistent with an original work of this period. Please review photos closely for condition.

Measures approximately 12" x 8" overall including the frame.
