An antique English Bible dating to 1877, with an especially lovely handwritten presentation page commemorating a Victorian marriage.  This Bible contains both the Old and New Testaments and retains its original black embossed binding.

The handwritten inscription reads that it was:

“Presented to Mrs Albert Smith on the Occasion of her Marriage as a Token of Affection from her Companions in the Senior Female Bible Class of the Baptist Sunday School Albert Street Keighley.”

It is dated Keighley, July 8th, 1878, giving this volume a wonderful personal history.

The black leather binding features an embossed geometric design with decorative panels and raised bands along the spine. The book shows considerable wear from nearly 150 years of use, particularly along the spine and edges, with rubbing, surface loss, age toning, and foxing throughout. Despite the wear, the book remains intact and displays beautifully.
