During the Victorian era (late 1860-1910), there was mass production of these small pots to sell as storage for "penny ink." After use, these were often tossed into garbage pits, and are now being dug up around England by salvagers. The shorn edge are called "burst top" types, as this was an economical and efficient way to finishing off the edges of these penny ink pots.
Use them now for small bud vases or start a collection to display on a windowsill. They catch light beautifully and are project a lovely teal blue color.
Each pot is approximately 2.5" tall, and they also do show some ink residue.
